Magnesium Machining Investment by HPC

05/12/2008

In addition to the significant range of Precision Engineering capacity offered by HPC, the company can now provide a Magnesium Machining service on a large capacity (1000mm pallet) Makino A100e Machining centre. To facilitate this addition the services provided on one of HPC's three A100e machines (available on a Fastems FMS cell), has been fitted with an automatic fire suppressant system. The system utilises infra red and heat sensors that can immediately detect any fire ignition within the working area. In the unlikely event of such an occurrence the system activates an Argon gas extinguisher. With this investment, HPC's flair for innovative, precise and cost effective engineering now extends to the machining of high precision magnesium alloy castings for the Aerospace and Automotive markets. The specialised cell features a 48 pallet storage capability and the ability to handle components up to 2 meters in length. From a wealth of experience and success working with customers within the Aerospace and Automotive industry, HPC is proud to have achieved the prestigious ISO/TS 16949 (Automotive) and AS9100 (Aerospace) accreditations. As further proof of the company's credentials, expert machining capabilities and quality systems, HPC is also accredited with the OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety standard and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.
